Overview of project impact
Hi, my name is Rachel Helps (or Rachel Helps (BYU) on Wikipedia) and this page is about my work on Wikipedia for the BYU Library. Over the last 9 years, I and my student employees edited thousands of pages, with substantial edits to about 150 pages. Thanks to editing a few popular pages (like for the actor Jimmy Stewart), our work has had hundreds of millions of views.
Here are some tools/pages that give an overview of our work. For more detailed descriptions of what we've done, see the subpages under "what we tried" on the left-hand side of this site.
Outreach dashboard, which I believe documents all of my and my students' edits for the project
it has some cool features, like looking at a "current version with highlighting" (page icon on each line of the "articles edited" list), but it doesn't work as well with pages that we changed the citation style on.
there are some limitations. We created over 100 new pages over the last nine years, but only a handful appear on the "new" pages filter. If you click "see more," you can see more pages.
From 2016-2022, I kept detailed spreadsheets tracking our work. By 2023, I decided that the programs and events dashboard was good enough and I used those instead for individual years (different from the above dashboard link, which tries for 2016-2025).
I wrote prose summaries of our work most years. You can see how my writing style changed over time :-).
